  • Takashimaya Brewery was founded in 1719 in the town of Hirosaki, Aomori Prefecture. In 1972, the 3 Hirosaki sake breweries - Takashimaya, Shiraume and Kawamura - joined forces to form Rokka Sake Brewery Co, Ltd, taking its name from the pure beauty of the snowflakes that fell at that time.

The Rokka brewery thus moved to the foot of Mount Iwaki, around 300 years after its formation, a sacred mountain symbolising Tsugaru. Since then, the brewery has been producing sake in a privileged environment, using water from the nearby river Iwaki, and delivering it throughout the country and around the world.
